Big wave lift over Santa Cruz Mountains. All the gliders came out to play, and what a day it was. Several gliders made 18,000 feet.

In-flight shutdown of the Carat motorglider engine. In the unique design of the Carat, the propeller blades fold forward like spears. This results in significantly-lower drag than feathering a propeller.
Flying a glider in wave lift. This must be the gentlest way to be in the air, except possibly for ballooning. As one pilot once said, "Flying in wave is even smoother than sitting still on the ground."
