This is the main CG intro that SNK commissioned for the PSX port for Fatal Fury: Wild Ambition. It's fairly primitive compared to modern stuff (for instance, the intro from Maximum Impact 2), but it's enjoyable enough.
This is a special Mystery Science Theater 3000 bit that Sony commissioned back in '97, for a PlayStation Underground sampler disc, which I nabbed at E3. Not exactly their best work, but it has its moments... particularly the last line.
This is Basara's segment from the Samurai Shodown III video laserdisc that was released alongside the game. Similar to the other games, it includes a short monologue from the character, some interesting combos and a few fights. More to come...
This is Hanzo's segment from the Samurai Shodown III video laserdisc that was released alongside the game. Similar to the other games, it includes a short monologue from the character, some interesting combos and a few fights. More to come...
This is the preview video for the mostly-forgotten PSX shmup, Philosoma. I dug it up off of my old "PlayStation Picks" disc that I got back on launch day in... what was it, September '95? I've never played the game myself, but I heard it's pretty lackluster.
I can't help noticing, though, that the aesthetic of Square's later Einhander is remarkably similar to this.
This is Ukyo's segment from the Samurai Shodown III video laserdisc that was released alongside the game. Similar to the other games, it includes a short monologue from the character, some interesting combos and a few fights. More to come...
This is the CG intro video from the PlayStation port of Final Fantasy IV. Notice how rough it is compared to their later stuff... this wasn't long after FF7.
This is Haohmaru's profile from the Scitron laserdisc that was released for Samurai Shodown IV back in the day. Each profile starts off with some the character's "fatality," followed by a few choice combos, then a handful of matches. If there's interest, I can post most. I have the videos for S1-3 as well.
This is Galford's segment from the Samurai Shodown III video laserdisc that was released alongside the game. Similar to the other games, it includes a short monologue from the character, some interesting combos and a few fights. More to come...
This was an animated promotional video that Falcom commissioned for Ys IV, to shop around to various production houses. This was done in hopes of getting it made into a full-scale animated series/movie/etc., but it never panned out.
Just to make it perfectly clear, THERE IS NO Ys IV ANIME. This trailer is all that exists.
This is the intro sequence for the PC Engine CD-ROM version of Strider Hiryu. The cinemas are neat and the CD music is good, but the game itself is pretty lousy. Not to say anything bad about the classic arcade original, but the port is poor... glitchy graphics and lots of flickering sprites.
Pity, as it actually has a bonus stage or two, which are exclusive to this version of the game.
