A pre-season drive into Denali Park is a great way to welcome spring to Alaska. Before the park opens to tourists and shuttle buses, you can drive your personal vehicle into mile 30 (Teklanika). It's always worth the trip.
The annual Yukon Quest is a 1000 mile sled dog race between Fairbanks Alaska and Whitehorse, Yukon. The start alternates between the two cities. This year, the race started in Fairbanks and my husband and I were out cheering on the mushers and teams - despite the -40F temperature!
A collection of video clips from October 19th, and our first big snowfall. We got 7" in our yard.
The song behind the video, is called "Snow Angels" by Brendon James Wright. ( http://www.myspace.c om/brendonjameswrigh t )
This footage was also shot in Katmai during our bear viewing trip in 2005. Many thanks to Chris and Ken Day of Emerald Air - the best guides based out of Homer!
My husband and I try to get to Katmai every year to walk amongst the brown bears. We fly over to Katmai with Chris and Ken Day of Emerald Air (the BEST guides EVER!) and spend the day with these spectacular creatures. While I take photographs, my husband videotapes. Here are some clips from our trip on July 4th, 2005.
A night of music at the Carlson Center. Two tribute bands: Journey Unauthorized (Journey) and Heartbreaker (Led Zeppelin). This is a compilation of still photos and short bursts of video.
A day in my life....
Watching the leaves blow off the trees, taking a walk in the woods with my pup, conversing with my cat, enjoying the chickadees...
Just a typical autumn day in North Pole.
