On A Tribute to Pearl Bailey Ella and Sarah join Pearl in a medley. Really entertaining and historical on a jazz point of view. Rare teaming of three great vocalist
Roy Eldridge on trumpet, Zoot Sims on sax, Paul Smith piano, Keeter Betts bass, and Mickey Roker on drums join Ella in a jam session. The song is Lady Be Good, a song she made famous in 1947. Interesting version and great scatting
Joe Pass , jazz guitar virtuoso plays "Ain't Misbehavin'" song was composed by Fats Waller. Sorry there was some wow and flutter on the VHS tape at the beginning
from 1977 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. Stevie wonder joins Ella on stage at the end of the concert. What you hear is the UNEDITED version. Not the version that appears on the We Love Ella CD.
Bobby Durham drums, Keeter Betts bass, Paul Smith piano...Introduced by Richard and Karen Carpenter on the 1980 Special. How High The Moon is the song...great scat and it's a great comparison to the 1960 recording of Ella in Berlin, since Paul Smith was on the piano for that concert.
April 25 this year makes what would have been Ella's 89th birthday. Sadly she passed away due to diabetes and complications June 15, 1996. She was and always will be the greatest singer ...ever.
