Edita Gruberova sings the vengeance aria "Der Hölle Rache" from Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. This is a performance from Vienna in 1981. What's with that costume?! Sorry about it being slightly out of sync.
Edita singing Norina's aria auf deutsch with a lovely high Eb in the cadenza from a Vienna Staatsoper tour of Donizetti's Don Pasquale in 1977. I wonder what she was thinking about her stage director...a canary in a cage maybe but a parrot??
Another installment from the 1983 concert in Munich with Gardelli conducting. Edita sings Giunia's fiendishly difficult aria "Ah, se il crudel periglio". WILL THIS CONCERT EVER BE AVAILABLE ON DVD??????
Edita sings Zerbinetta from this 1982 production of Ariadne auf Naxos directed by Filippo Sanjust. This is the same production that was filmed in 1977/78 for the film now available on DG.
It goes to show you what a year of study (daily) at the piano will do for you. PRACTICE makes perfect.
Edita sings Bel raggio lusinghier from Rossini's Semiramide in a concert version from 1990. I believe Sam Ramey and Kathleen Kuhlman were also in the cast. Some very fun ornamentation.
From a 1985 Gala with the Stars hosted by Beverly Sills conducted by James Levine. Edita sings Adele's Laughing Song from Die Fledermaus by J. Strauss. Definitely the 80's!!!!!!
A clip from the Salzburg Festival performance of Don Giovanni in 1990. Edita sings Donna Anna's second aria, Non mi dir. Sorry for the little 'burps' in the video transfer.
Edita sings Lucia's mad scene from a complete production from the Staatsoper in 1982. A poorly lit scene (or at least video) but it is taking place in a Scottish castle after all! Some nice use of chest voice also! One can hear and see why this role became one of her calling cards.

I love the way Gruberova flirts - not only with the words but with the notes themself - she caresses them amazingly. Brava!
