flintknapping is the process of breaking rocks to make tools, a practice that has been in use for over two million years. This is a demonstration of possible knapping techniques used by some of the early americans. If you are interested in primitive skills, archaeology, or just have a fascination of the past you might find some of this video series interesting

Hammerstone preform w/ heavy basal thinning, then indirect percussion w/ antler punch. I turn out a clunker in this one, but I was taping, so you get the good with the bad.
This series is roughly an hour and only covers the 4 major sets of pressure flaking on a finished, but stage 1 sloan dalton. Unless you are super into this kind of thing, you probably will want to only watch half of chapters 1 and 6. I kept it long though for the few people I know will really benefit from having the whole thing together.
Knapping a western clovis using antler and ivory punches. technique demonstrates full length flaking using a horozontal punch technique inspired by Mike D's technique and modified
Shows fluting prep...w/ the bone. I don't talk in this series but tried to just show close up shots of edge turning and isolated platforms. I get tired of hearing myself talk while editing these videos also, so I thought the silence would be a nice break for all of us. Udo the dog is in the background.
