In this 3-minute clip shot off Samamma Island in Indonesia, two papuan cuttlefish (about 4 inches long)cruise the reef and then get it on. The male can be seen fighting off another male who was lurking under a rock overhang, and the female has a quick snack before they do the nasty.
This small (about 10 cm) Flamboyant Cuttlefish (Metasepia Pfefferi) displays many of its fascinating behaviours in this clip: feeding with its long retractible "tongue", walking on the bottom using its tentacles and body (the only cuttlefish to do so), flashing bright colors to warn predators (and videographers) away, swimming, and extremely rapid color and texture changes to achieve camouflage.
This juvenile cowrie (a type of sea snail), about 4 inches long, is one of the most beautiful creatures I've ever seen. Unfortunately the colors in the video don't do it justice - the mantle was a rich wine burgundy red, and the tips of its "bumps" brilliant yellow.
I'm not sure what the heck these things are, but they were in the freshwater "jellyfish lake" on Kakaban Island, Indonesia. They might be in the holothurian family, I dunno. They're about 5 inches long and fascinating to watch.
This beautiful 10-foot leopard shark was filmed at the start of a dive off current-swept Kakaban Island, near Sangalaki Island, Indonesia. Unfortunatelty another diver scared it away with a rapid approach and camera flashes :-(
