The Urban Challenge is a 60-mile skill competition of driverless vehicles through streets and intersections. Urban Challenge vehicles must drive effectively and safely, react and interact with other traffic, and reason about intention. This competition will be held November 3, 2007.

This new robot is named Scarab and is part of the the Lunar Ice Discovery Initiative. The LIDI intends to conduct a robotic ground investigation of the southern polar region of the Moon.

The ECD Leg is the final revision of the prototype BiMASC. We have constructed two robots: a monopod, named Thumper, installed here at the Robotics Institute, and a Biped, named MABEL, installed in Professor Jessy Grizzle's laboratory at the University of Michigan.

Students have to build a robot, drive through a mock collapsed building and locate survivors (World Wrestling Federation figures with famous CMU people's faces pasted on them). One small challenge: students are in a remote location driving the robot using images from a camera on-board the robot.
