Olympus E-420 Digital SLR Review
The Olympus “E” series of Digital SLRs heralded some unique features including an electronic digital sensor dust cleaner and these cameras have met with widespread acceptance. These scaled down, more or less entry level DSLRs have proven themselves as worthy contenders both in picture taking quality and durability, factors that we’ve come to expect from Olympus. The Good And The Bad Of Digital Cameras
We’ve already covered the question of whether or not the number of mega pixels is the most important feature to look for in a digital camera. However, the topic merits a second look, along with certain other digital camera features that seem impressive but in reality may be nothing more than advertising fluff. Digital cameras, as well as any other product a consumer may be shopping for, should always be selected on the basis of what you need in a particular product. Advertising firms emphasize features and performance when trying to sell digital cameras but it is up to the consumer to decide which of these “features” they really need. Many of today’s crop of digital cameras have loads of features, many of which are great, such as anti-shake, but do you really need or want “face recognition?” Be careful not to get derailed by huge numbers, and don’t fall for a camera that’s feature rich and performance poor, because you’ll be disappointed. Check out this article about what is and what isn’t important when selecting a digital camera. By the way the camera pictured above is a 160 million mega pixel digital camera; get out your credit card! Take a camera with you whenever possible, and look around, you’ll find a picture somewhere. Canon’s Tiny Personal Digital Photo Printers
Do you want or need the convenience and speed of a quality home digital photo printer with a small footprint? If so, then a dedicated 4X6″ digital photo printer may be the answer, and there are plenty of them from which to choose. These small printers turn your digital camera into a sort of “Polaroid” instant camera and work wonders for parties and get-togethers because of their portability. In fact there are several models that operate off a battery pack so they can be used anywhere. The drawback is that the per print cost is a bit on the high side but even so it’s about the same as most “instant” print kiosks but you have the convenience of printing when and where you want. Here are the latest compact Canon digital photo printers to get you started on your search. Take a camera with you whenever possible, and look around, you’ll find a picture somewhere. Digital Baby Photos
Photo courtesy of iStockphoto, Mark Goddard Taking baby pictures is something I haven’t done very often and, in fact, the last time I did it was with a film camera. So it’s time to check out what others are doing with their digital cameras and babies. The article I found has quite a few very innovative ideas in it including the use of “macro” for baby pictures. Now I know that babies are tiny, but I never would have thought of using the macro setting for people pictures, but this digital photographer has some great ideas for using macro. Check out this article about digital baby pictures and then find, or make a baby, and try these techniques. It should be fun. Take a camera with you whenever possible, and look around, you’ll find a picture somewhere. See full article. “Picture Your World”, A Great Photography Blog
If you’re an honest person, and I believe I am, you cannot be afraid to tip your hat to persons who do what you do, but better. I found a photography blog that is authored by a highly accomplished young woman who has created some amazing images that I feel will provide inspiration for the rest of us. Sheba Wheeler, the blog’s owner, offers photo tips that are worth checking out, such as “wetting wood” before photographing it to bring out its subtle colors and textures. I wish I had thought of that before taking the above picture. Check out Ms. Wheeler’s blog and draw some inspiration from it and learn how to be a better digital photographer.
