Canon introduces entry-level Rebel XS and new flash
Canon took the wraps off their new Rebel XS digital SLR today. The XS, which replaces the Rebel XTi, is a stripped-down version of the Rebel XSi and will be Canon’s new entry-level D-SLR. The camera will officially be announced in the U.S. next month, so I’ll have pricing and availability at that time. For now, here are the specs:

Pentax intros new F4, 17 - 70 mm lens
Pentax has released a new lens designed specifically for their digital SLRs. The new F4 AL, 17 - 70 mm SDM lens features two “hybrid aspherical” lens elements, a “supersonic” lens motor, and a dust/water resistant coating. Do note that the SDM lens motor is only supported on the K10D, K20D, K100D Super, and K200D, so it will be a manual focus lens on everything else. The 17 - 70 will ship in July for under $600.
